In the continuing spirit of “back to school,” we’d like to share some of our favorite lessons from some of our favorite train books!
The Little Red Caboose is about the caboose who is always last. It wants to be as popular as the engine at the front of the train when one day that all changes. This book teaches that you don’t have to be popular to be important. If you do your job, and do it well, you too can save the day! Take pride in your talents and the gifts you have been given!
The Polar Express is a classic Christmas story of a boy who begins to doubt Santa’s existence. The night before Christmas, he sees a train parked in front of his house called the Polar Express. This magical train ride takes kids to the North Pole. Throughout this book, we learn that if you have an open heart, the wonders of the world will never fade!
Hey! Get Off Our Train is one that I remember from my own childhood. It’s about a young boy who dreams of journeying by train. Soon, one by one, animals ask to join the ride. They are all endangered and the boy learns about the plight of each animal. It teaches kids about environmental issues facing different species and shows that even one kid can make a difference.
The Little Engine That Could It’s the story of the little engine that shows that hard work does pay off. It also exemplifies how to best face the trials in our lives through strength, courage, and perseverance.
All of these books and more can be found at EnterTRAINment Junction! We love learning and being able to use trains as a tool to educate and provide life lessons for the younger generation! We also have Thomas the Train books galore in Junction Hobbies and Toys.
