EnterTRAINment Junction is 25,000 square feet of family fun. With over 90 trains and 2 miles of track we think that EnterTRAINment Junction is a given “must-do” for any train lover, but we’ve compiled a list of other neat train attractions to help you plan the perfect vacation for the train lover in your family.
- Northlandz in Flemington, New Jersey
Most of the trains here are HO scale (unlike EnterTRAINment which is G scale) You can watch 100 trains travel 8 miles of track around rocky cliffs, cities, canyons, and mountains. - Chattanooga, Tennessee
Described as a moving museum, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum is an interactive experience where you can ride a full-sized train. They offer multiple excursions and different seasonal events.
Another top Chattanooga attraction is the Chattanooga Choo Choo hotel. In 1909 the Terminal Station was a train depot which has now been converted. Guests can even stay in a Pullman train car! (How neat is that!) - 3. Strasburg, Pennsylvania
The Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania has collections of historic railroad artifacts as well as displays of over 100 locomotives and cars from 19th and 20th centuries. The Strasburg Railroad is right across the street from the museum and they offer narrated train rides great for young and old!
National Toy Train Museum hosts an extensive toy train collection featuring models from the 1800’s to present – Lionel, American Flyer, LGB, Bachman, and more! - 4. San Diego Railroad Museum in San Diego, California
With over 27,000 sq feet of trains, trestles, and tracks this museum has both indoor and outdoor exhibits. These layouts feature HO scale, O scale, and G scale trains.5. Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany
While it’s probably not the closest of the museums or most feasible to get to, it is quite impressive. It’s another HO layout which is divided into 9 sections – including various parts of Europe and even the USA. They have 1,000 trains and supply incredible animations.
As you can see, whether near or far, there are plenty attractions for the train lover in your family!
