#6 Status Report

ATTENTION:  Opportunity knocks!  On 6, 7, and 9 January 2007 (that’s this coming weekend) the Big Train Project is having an “Open House” at the EnterTRAINment Junction location in West Chester, Ohio.  The times are as follows:

– Saturday, 6 January, from 10 AM to 4 PM

– Sunday, 7 January, from Noon to 4 PM

– Tuesday, 9 January, from 6 PM to 9 PM

Directions:

– Take I-75 to West Chester, north of Cincinnati, to TYLERSVILLE ROAD,

Exit 22

– Go EAST on Tylersville Road one block and turn RIGHT on KINGSGATE

– Go about a block and turn RIGHT on SQUIRE COURT

– Go to the end of the street to the White Building Trimmed in Green (previously “Oak and More Furniture” )

 

The planning team has been very busy putting together displays and drawings to help you get a feel for the entire exhibit area.  A ½-inch-to-the-foot scale model has been built to show the “topography” of the layout.  The floor has been marked with the walking path, and major points of interest have been identified to give you an idea of the scope of the layout.  Architectural plans and drawings will be available to show additional details of the concept and design.

 

There will be examples of model buildings that show the levels of construction detail that are planned (for various distances from the viewers).  Also the Section Gang leaders and planning team members will be available to answer questions and provide additional information and guidance.  As an added feature of the Open House, snacks and drinks will be provided.

 

As always, one of the major goals is to attract and motivate volunteers to participate in the eventual building and detailing of the layout.  Volunteers don’t need to be skilled modelers.  There are a wide variety of talents needed, and there will be training opportunities later to develop or hone your skills.  If you’re interested, come see what it’s all about.

 

There are no formal presentations planned for the Open House, so come when you can, bring family and friends, and, if you haven’t already done so, sign up as a volunteer to join us in building the “largest model railroad in the world.”
